College Introduction
The Department of Mental Health, part of the College of Health Sciences at Mari Private University, was established pursuant to Ministry of Higher Education Resolution No. […/…] and began accepting students starting the 2024/2025 academic year. The department contributes to raising the level of higher education by graduating specialized personnel who meet the needs of the local and regional labor market.

College Objectives
The department aims to graduate specialists in the following fields:
- Mental health specialist (providing individual and group support).
- Social counselor (resolving family and community conflicts).
- Specialist in the rehabilitation of war victims (psychological programs for trauma treatment).
- Child development expert (early detection of behavioral disorders).
- Addiction counselor (designing addiction prevention and treatment programs).
Providing therapeutic services to a wide range of citizens through educational and specialized dental clinics.
Refining students’ academic, political, intellectual, and social character, and developing their work ethic.
Identifying the various skills required by the job market for the dental profession.
Admission Requirements to the College of Health Sciences – Department of Mental Health
- Obtaining a General Secondary Certificate (Science/Literature) according to the requirements of the Higher Education Council.
- Passing a personal interview to assess professional inclinations and personal characteristics.
- Full-time study.
- Duration: 4 academic years (8 semesters) according to the semester system.
- Time Distribution:
- The academic year is divided into two semesters, each lasting 12 weeks.
- Study Plan: combines theoretical lectures (70%) and practical training (30%).

Official language of instruction: Arabic.
Some specialized courses are taught in English (e.g., mental health terminology, scientific research methods).
- Attendance of at least 75% of the theoretical and practical lectures for each course is required.
- A student will be denied entry to the final exam if their attendance rate falls below the required percentage.
Assessment and Examinations
Grading:
- Final Theoretical Exam: 70 points (duration: 2 hours).
- Practical Assessment: 30 points (includes projects, seminars, and field reports).
- Success Requirements:
- Achieving a minimum of 60% of the course total score.
- Exam Disqualification: A student will be disqualified from taking the final exam if they score less than 12/30 on the practical assessment.
- Student Objections:
- Students are allowed to submit an objection to the results within 7 days of their announcement, subject to payment of a specified fee.
