Introduction to the College of Dentistry
The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Mary was established by the decree establishing the University of Mary in 2015 and is headquartered in Saraqib.

College Objectives
- Preparing a practicing dentist who possesses high scientific and professional competence, is aware of the health needs of society, is able to pursue education, and is committed to medical ethics and morals; In order to contribute to providing preventive and therapeutic oral health for all citizens.
- Acquire the knowledge, understanding, and various skills necessary to provide primari health care to all segments of society.
- Prepare physicians to pursue specialized postgraduate studies, in line with the needs of the University of Mari and its development plans, in accordance with the instructions of the Higher Education Council in Idlib.
- Prepare specialists in various fields of dentistry, providing them with a high level of knowledge and skills in their fields of expertise, and prepare some of them academically to join the Faculty of Dentistry family.
- Contribute to continuing medical and academic qualification courses and training for graduates and working dentists.
- Develop curricula, teaching methods, and techniques, improve examination methods, author and translate university medical books, and establish and improve quality control rules based on the opinions of professors, experts, and students.
- Develop the spirit of teamwork in medicine, strengthen cooperation with all sectors concerned with health matters (students, doctors, and administrators), and strengthen cultural ties with local and foreign medical colleges and scientific bodies.
- Providing therapeutic services to a wide segment of citizens through the operation of educational and specialized dental clinics.
- Refining the student’s scientific, political, intellectual, and social personality, and developing his work spirit.
- Identifying the various skills required by the labor market for the dental profession.

Admission Requirements To The College of Dentistry
To be:
- Hold a general secondary school certificate - scientific stream exclusively, or its equivalent from other countries.
- Or The student must have a certificate that allows for a transfer similar to the major, in accordance with the decisions of the Higher Education Council.
- Meet the admission requirements set by the Higher Education Council.
- Be a full-time student at the college.
Duration of study in the College of Dentistry:
- Five academic years, after which the student obtains a Bachelor of Dentistry degree.
- The study is divided into:
1- A theoretical and practical (laboratory) phase in the first, second, and third years.
2- A clinical phase in the fourth and fifth years.
- The academic year is organized according to the semester system:
1- It is divided into two semesters.
2- Each semester lasts 17 weeks, of which:
- 14 weeks for study.
- 3 weeks for exams.

- Exception: Some courses are taught in a foreign language (such as English) and are considered:
1. General Requirement for the English Department.
2. Medical Terminology Course
The student is required to:
- Achieve an attendance rate of at least 75% of the practical and theoretical meetings for each course.
- Debarment from the final exam if the required percentage is not achieved, based on:
- Debarment lists prepared by the Department Council.
- Approval and approval of the lists by the Council University.

TeachersExamination and Grading System - Calendar and Exams
College exams are conducted according to the university calendar approved by the university after the approval of the Higher Education Council.
The maximum grade for each course is 100, divided as follows:
- 30 to 60 for the practical section (during the semester).
- 40 to 70 for the theoretical exam (at the end of the semester).
The exact distribution (practical/theoretical) is determined according to the nature of each subject.
Includes:
- Student’s Work Grade (reviews, seminars, oral exam, performance evaluation).
- Practical Exam.
The course instructor distributes the percentages among the components of the practical section.
The failed student retains the full grade for the practical section and is only allowed to retake the practical exam.
- The duration of the written exam is two hours per course.
- The instructor may (with the dean's approval) change the exam format (oral/written) as appropriate to the nature of the course.
The student who fails retains the full grade for the practical section, and is only allowed to retake the practical exam.
- Excellent: If the average is ≥ 85%.
- Very Good: If the average is between 75% and less than 85%.
- Good: If the average is between 65% and less than 75%.
- Acceptable: If the rate is between 60% and less than 65%.

Using the Halls: Access to the lecture halls and auditoriums is permitted only during scheduled lecture times. Using these spaces for any other activities without the approval of the university presidency is prohibited. | Student Activities: Prior approval from the university presidency is required to organize any activity (social, cultural, sports, or fundraising). |
Announcements and Bulletins: Placing advertisements, bulletins, or any media materials is prohibited except in the designated places and after obtaining official permission. | Cheating Control: Cheating in exams is subject to the instructions issued by the University of Mary and the previously announced decisions of the Higher Education Council. |
Student Objections: Students are allowed to file an objection to exam results within the specified period, provided they pay the required fees for each course. |
